another quick demo on the floor tile texture. What I want to show here is logic/ believability in weathering/ destruction. I see a lot of random dings and chips that doesn't make sense on a lot of junior artist textures. If you put little more effort on the construction and destruction it will have better story telling to the texture.

4 way tile ground texture demo explaining key to hand painted texture style is all on the subtle brush marks. Basically flatter the colors and bolder the brush marks out come will be more "cartoony" and more variations and subtle the marks more mature the style will be. All depends on what your end goal is but knowing how far you want to push is the key to the style. Theoretically more render you do to your texture more "realistic" it becomes.
